Bayern threaten to boycott German national team

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have shockingly threatened to boycott the German national team if Joachim Low does not pick Manuel Neuer as his first choice goalkeeper.

Neuer and goalkeeping rival Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who currently plays for Barcelona, have recently been involved in a war of words over the No 1 spot, with the latter becoming frustrated with a lack of game time.

And Bayern president Uli Hoeness has stepped in by threatening to stop players from his club linking up with the national team if Low decides to replace Neuer with Ter Stegen.

“Before that takes place, we won’t be sending any more national players,” said the Bayern president to Sport Bild following his side’s Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade.

27-year-old Ter Stegen believes that he should be starting for the German national team and claims people can’t expect him to be “happy about it”.
