Bayern reject Wenger
German giants Bayern Munich have reportedly turned down the opportunity to make Arsene Wenger their new manager.
Bayern are in need of a new manager following the sacking Niko Kovac this week and have been linked to a number of high profile candidates, with Wenger being one of them.
And it was reported that the former Arsenal boss reached out to Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on Thurday to discuss the position.
The Bundesliga side confirmed the discussion to German outlet Bild, saying: “Arsene Wenger called Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on Wednesday afternoon and signalled his fundamental interest in the position at Bayern. FC Bayern highly value Arsene Wenger’s work at Arsenal, but he is not an option to become head coach at FC Bayern.”
Sources claim that the reason they couldn’t reach an agreement was because Wenger refused to accept a short-term contract until the end of the season, which Bayern was looking for.
