Azraai Khor: Pick quality naturalised players

Former Kedah coach, Mohd Azraai Khor Abdullah, insists that only worthy foreign players should be naturalised for the Malaysia squad.

Azraai, who led Kedah to the “double treble” in 2007 and 2008, is hoping that the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) will do some thorough research before picking players to be naturalised.

It was confirmed earlier that the FAM are currently reviewing the likes of Guilherme de Paula, Liridon Krasniqi and Lee Tuck.

But Azraai doesn’t seem to completely agree with the FAM’s list of candidates.

“I don’t think Guilherme (de Paula) is a good fit for the Harimau Malaya squad because he will be turning 33 next season.

“Meanwhile, Liridon (Krasniqi) is still very young and although he’s good with the ball, I’ve been told that there are some issues with his discipline.

“So the best way for the FAM to find new talents is by naturalising young players who have been outstanding in the M-League for at least five years,” he said.
