Arsenal stunned, Chelsea cruise

Chelsea are one step closer to the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals following their 3-0 win over Dynamo Kiev, while Arsenal will have to overturn a heavy deficit in the second leg after being beaten 3-1 by Rennes.

The Blues made it three wins out of three in all competitions thanks to goals from Pedro Rodriguez (17′), Willian (65′) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (90′).

Arsenal on the other hand, have a mountain to climb in the return leg at the Emirates Stadium, having conceded three goals against French side Rennes.

Arsenal took the lead through Alex Iwobi after just four minutes but the game turned when Sokratis Papastathopoulos was sent off late in the first half and Rennes equalized from the resulting free kick through Benjamin Bourigeaud (42′).

Their situation was worsened by an own goal from defender Nacho Monreal in the 65th minute and Ismaila Sarr’s 88th minute strike ensured that there would be no joy for Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech on his return to the city.

The Europa League Round of 16 return legs are set to take place two weeks from now.
