Worst video game movie adaptations of all time

From Assassin’s Creed to The Angry Birds, Hollywood producers have taken these famous video games and turned them into movies on the big screens. Some soared and some flopped terribly. For the next two days, I’m going to share with you what I think are some of the best and the worst video games turned into Hollywood films.

Here are the worst video game movies ever made:

Starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, Assassin’s Creed was an okay movie. It’s pretty cool to see the impressive Animus brought to life, but it didn’t quite hit the spot for me. As a big fan of the franchise, this movie was such a snoozefest that even I fell asleep in the middle of the movie.

Rating: 3/5

Although I thought it was an extremely fun movie when I was a kid, I only realized how cringey this movie was when I re-watched it as an adult. With only 8% on Rotten Tomatoes, I think you get what I mean when I describe it as “cringey” right?

Rating: 2/5

What an impressive cast – Aaron Paul, Imogen Poots, Rami Malik, Dominic Cooper and even Michael Keaton were involved in this 2014 movie. Unfortunately, Need for Speed did not turn out as speedy as they expected it to be. With a very predictable storyline and less-than-engaging racing plots – I’d rather be in control and play the game myself.

Rating: 2.5/5

Tbh, I have never really played Warcraft myself, but I’ve seen a whole lot of the game play. But this one in my opinion was made a little bit more cartoon-ish rather than having a feel of watching a Blockbuster movie. Also, the whole thing is way too chaotic and cramped as it really feels like there’s too many things going on, but so little time to understand. But maybe that’s just me…

Rating: 2.5/5

And of course, last but not least – a movie by the famous Uwe Boll.  With only 7% on Rotten Tomatoes, Postal is on top of everyone’s list of ‘the worst video game movie ever made’. Maybe it’s the really tasteless humour or the terrible storyline but damn, this one’s so bad I don’t know what to say.

Rating: 1.4/5
